RC Hangar: user manual

RC Hangar is not just an archive: it is an operational control system that automatically connects models, components, flights, and maintenance to reduce oversights and improve reliability and safety.

Quick overview

With RC Hangar you can:

  • catalog your RC models (airplanes, drones, cars, boats);
  • link components to each model (servos, motor, ESC, RX, batteries, and any other item);
  • set a maintenance interval in minutes for each component;
  • log flights with duration, coordinates, and weather;
  • receive automatic expired-maintenance alerts on both model and component;
  • clear alerts by logging maintenance.

Recommended workflow

  1. Create the model in the Models section.
  2. Add the model components in the Components section.
  3. Set the maintenance interval for each component (maintenance time field).
  4. Log flights with duration and location.
  5. Let weather auto-fill from GPS coordinates.
  6. Check alert bells on models/components when a threshold is exceeded.
  7. Log maintenance to reset alerts for expired components.

1) Models and components: correct structure

Each model is the technical container of your setup. For each model you can add all required components (servos, motor, electronics, accessories), including photos, technical notes, and cost data.

The key point is the maintenance interval per component: each component has its own threshold, so maintenance is granular and not generic at model level.

2) Flight logging: flight time, coordinates, and weather

When you log a flight, the system stores:

  • flight duration (minutes);
  • coordinates (lat/lon) and location;
  • weather parameters (wind, direction, temperature, pressure, cloud cover) automatically retrieved from coordinates.

After saving the flight, the duration is propagated to the model components by updating their usage counters.

3) Expired maintenance alert: how it works

For each component, RC Hangar compares accumulated time since last maintenance with the configured threshold:

  • if accumulated time exceeds the maintenance interval, an alert bell appears;
  • the alert is visible both in the Components list and, at summary level, in the related Models list;
  • the bell is clickable and quickly leads to maintenance entry.

Result: you immediately identify which elements need intervention, without manual checks.

4) Alert reset with maintenance

When you log maintenance for a model, the system resets counters only for components that are actually over threshold.

  • the previous value is stored for technical history;
  • the temporary counter is reset to zero;
  • the bell disappears on both component and model as soon as the condition returns to normal.

This way, the maintenance cycle restarts in a traceable and consistent manner with real usage.

Operational best practices

  • set realistic maintenance thresholds and differentiate them by component type;
  • log every flight right away to keep counters reliable;
  • use geolocation and map selection to improve location and weather accuracy;
  • describe performed maintenance to keep a consultable technical history.
